**2. NOTES FROM MELODY
I was pleased and a little overwhelmed by the e-mails and phone calls I received welcoming me to Leeâs organization. I have already established a relationship with many of you and look forward to meeting more of you in the months to come.
It has been a busy and exciting quarter for us. The result of all the work and activity has been a broader vision for Lee's ministry and educational programs, a new name for the organization, and ground work laid for relationship with a non-profit organization.
Our new name will be Lee Domann Presents·.. We think it has a nice ring to it and allows us to add new programs as they come along. Just fill in the program name after the dots! Doesnât get much easier than that.
In March Lee began presenting the Howard Gray Story in person to schoolchildren. As you know, the Howard Gray Story sends a strong message of anti-bullying, anti-teasing, and the need to respect one another. In light of the Columbine and other school tragedies we felt it was time to take the message to young people in a more focused way. The response so far has been wonderful. We are in the process of booking schools and other youth organizations for the Fall of this year and into Spring 2003. If you would like more information on the program or know someone who would be interested, please let me know.
In a few short weeks we will be working with a non-profit organization called Education Planning Associates, Inc. This relationship will allow us to seek funding for our programs and expand our vision. We are very pleased about this and will be sending out a special announcement and details when everything is finalized.
Also in the "whatâs new area": the Peasall Sisters (the little girls from the Grammy Award winning soundtrack from the hit movie, O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU) have included Leeâs song "Jesus Laughin' " on their new album. Last year they accompanied Emmy Lou Harris, Allison Krause, and others in the "Down From the Mountain" nationwide tour. We are proud to have them sing and record one of Leeâs songs.
Have a great Spring! Keep those e-mails and phone calls coming, please. They are a real boost to me personally and we need all the help we can get to spread the word about LEE DOMANN PRESENTS... (1-800-510-0601 or melody@nvt.net ) And thanks for all your support. As one of Lee's song says, "It's the ones who believe that keep the rest of us goin.' "
**3. LEE'S CORNER
Melody has given you a concise overview of highlights of the last three months. The only thing I want to add is my 8-day February trip to Germany. I'd never been to Europe before, so it was an emotional experience to cross over the English Channel into the Netherlands at sunrise. It literally was a dream come true. Many of my dreams of the slumbering kind have been about flying over and onto that part of the world.
I stayed with my friend, the Rev. Bob Schwartz, in Dusseldorf, the city Napoleon called "Little Paris on the Rhine." It was an honor to play at both Sunday morning services at the Methodist Church where Bob is pastor. I sang "Howard Gray" at each. The first was for German-speaking persons only; the second, for English-speaking. At the first service the lyrics (translated into German) were printed in the bulletin as I sang it in English. I hope to improve my German language skills to one day sing it in German.
The central event for me, however, was to visit the tiny and very beautiful burg of Ottbergen, the town my great-grandfather, Wilhelm Domann, left at the age of 19 in 1862. He traveled to the U.S. and settled in northeast Kansas. I was unsuccessful in finding any family members, but left a note written in German in the sanctuary of the Catholic Church, where he most certainly had worshipped (it was built in the 13th century, I believe). Lo and behold, when I returned to Nashville there were two e-mails from distant cousins! The priest at the church had found my note and passed it along to the local Domann family. We've been corresponding, and it's a great feeling to make that spiritual connection.
I think of so many of you from time to time whom I have met on the road. It will be good to see you again in the days ahead. I wish peace of mind and heart for each of you.
**4. QUARTERLY QUOTE
